Upper West Side

Why Upper West Side patients choose video.

The Upper West Side runs on strollers and running shoes: the Central Park loop at dawn, Riverside Park with a toddler, a return to the reservoir after a second baby. Postpartum recovery, diastasis recti and leaking with running are common reasons people here book. Video visits happen during nap time, from the living room floor.

One-on-one with Dr. Elana Shalem, PT, DPT (CAPP-OB), licensed in New York: a 60-minute evaluation, then 45-minute follow-ups.

Questions

Questions from the Upper West Side

Can my baby be in the room during a video visit?

Yes. Many postpartum visits happen with a baby in the room. Sessions can pause for a feed, and the home program is built around nap schedules.

When can I start pelvic floor physical therapy after giving birth?

Many people start around six weeks postpartum, after the obstetric check. Earlier education visits are possible, and Dr. Shalem tailors the timing to the birth and the recovery.

How soon can I be seen?

Usually within a week. Early morning, evening and weekend video visits are available.
