The Hamptons

Why Hamptons patients choose video.

Summer on the East End means Montauk Highway traffic and no appetite for a long drive to an appointment, and for year-round residents specialty care often means the drive west. Video visits work from a beach house or a city apartment, so a plan started in July continues in October without starting over.

One-on-one with Dr. Elana Shalem, PT, DPT (CAPP-OB), licensed in New York: a 60-minute evaluation, then 45-minute follow-ups.

Private pay

Private pay in the Hamptons

Rates are quoted on the free discovery call. A superbill after every visit supports out-of-network reimbursement from PPO plans; HSA and FSA cards are accepted. No authorizations, no plan visit limits, no waitlist.

Insurance: In-network with Aetna in New York, billed directly. Other plans are private pay with a superbill; coverage is confirmed before the first visit.

Referrals: New York allows you to start physical therapy without a referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. If care continues beyond that, we help you get a referral from your physician.

Questions

Questions from the Hamptons

Can I keep the same physical therapist when I go back to Manhattan?

Yes. Visits are by video anywhere in New York, so care continues between the East End and the city with no new referral and no new therapist.

Are visits private?

Yes. Visits are one-on-one on a HIPAA-compliant platform, from any private room. There is no waiting room and nothing is recorded.

How soon can I be seen?

Usually within a week. Early morning, evening and weekend video visits are available.
