Central Adirondacks

Why central Adirondacks patients choose video.

The middle of the Adirondack Park is lakes, camps and some of the smallest towns in New York, often an hour or more from the nearest city. Year-round residents, seasonal camp owners and retirees are seen one-on-one by video for leaking, prolapse, back pain and recovery after surgery.

One-on-one with Dr. Elana Shalem, PT, DPT (CAPP-OB), licensed in New York: a 60-minute evaluation, then 45-minute follow-ups.

Private pay

Private pay in the central Adirondacks

Rates are quoted on the free discovery call. A superbill after every visit supports out-of-network reimbursement from PPO plans; HSA and FSA cards are accepted. No authorizations, no plan visit limits, no waitlist.

Insurance: In-network with Aetna in New York, billed directly. Other plans are private pay with a superbill; coverage is confirmed before the first visit.

Referrals: New York allows you to start physical therapy without a referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. If care continues beyond that, we help you get a referral from your physician.

Questions

Questions from the central Adirondacks

Does it work with satellite or cellular internet?

Often, yes. A steady connection for a video call is enough. If the connection drops, Dr. Shalem calls back to finish the visit.

Can seasonal residents continue care after the summer?

Yes, anywhere in New York by video. Dr. Shalem is licensed in seven states, so care can often continue in a winter home too; we check before the move.

How soon can I be seen?

Usually within a week. Early morning, evening and weekend video visits are available.
